How did you online name come about? - SilverRonald - 10-05-2022
Just a curious question that came to my mind randomly one day while driving.
So how did you guys come up with your online name and what made you stick with it?
My stories:
After the CSGO rank reset several years back, climbing back to Novas was a challenge and I was stuck down in the Silvers for a long long time. That coupled with my dwindling interest in that game did not make the climb any easier, so instead of being mocked by other players, why not include it in my name so people know generally what to expect from me.
And it fits even better because of my racing habits in GTA V. I am by no means the quickest driver amongst my group back in the GTA Online days, my usual position is usually 5th-10th in a 20-30 player lobby, occasionally I will find myself leading a race if the track suits my style and I get into a rhythm.
The problem with that, is that knowing I am not the quickest out there, usually on the dying stages of the race, I will tend to start taking more risks that actually lose me precious milliseconds with competition looming ever closer. More than once that has cost me an unlikely win and I have to settle for the Silver medal. The thing is, had I maintained my performance instead of pushing even harder, the gold medal is achievable. So 2nd place, Silver medal, SilverRonald.
