Suggestion: Idea for Universal Performance Index - microoowave - 09-02-2022

The Idea is about sorting every raceable vehicle on the server (i assume about 800 cars) into a Universal Performance Index (Example provided). Please correct me if I am wrong on something.

From what I found out from t̶o̶r̶t̶u̶r̶i̶n̶g̶ SilverRonald, vehicles are ranked by their lap time on a test track into S, A, B, C, etc. within a class (e.g. Sports). However, this creates situations like Itali GTO being the only car in its tier in Sports, when there are cars from Supers on similar pace that cant be used in that race. (SadgeEgg)

Now I will provide an example of how I think all vehicles should be ranked, using Broughy1322's lap times for reference as I don't have any other list (GTACars.net).
I think rocket vehicles, Modern open wheel cars, and motorcycles should stay in their own separate classes, this list is for all other raceable vehicles.

X - 58-0 (Vehicles too fast to be ranked/balanced with other vehicles, lap time <=0:58)

From here tiers are sorted with a 1 second difference in lap time (laps in seconds)
S1 - 59-58 (combined S tier ranges from <=1:03 to >0:58)
S2 - 60-59
S3 - 61-60
S4 - 62-61
S5 - 63-62

A1 - 64-63 (combined A tier ranges from <=1:08 to >1:03)
A2 - 65-64
A3 - 66-65
A4 - 67-66
A5 - 68-67

B1 - 69-68 (combined B tier ranges from <=1:13 to >1:08)
B2 - 70-69
B3 - 71-70
B4 - 72-71
B5 - 73-72

C1 - 74-73 (combined C tier ranges from <=1:18 to >1:13)
C2 - 75-74
C3 - 76-75
C4 - 77-76
C5 - 78-77

From here, to capture a larger range of time, tiers are sorted with a 2 second difference
D1 - 80-78 (combined D tier ranges from <=1:28 to >1:18)
D2 - 82-80
D3 - 84-82
D4 - 86-84
D5 - 88-86

E1 - 90-93 (combined E tier ranges from <=1:38 to >1:28)
E2 - 92-90
E3 - 94-92
E4 - 96-94
E5 - 98-96

F - infinite-98 (super slow cars, >1:38)

These time differences can be tuned to accommodate any range of lap times.

If something like this were to be implemented, there would be on average 20-30 cars to choose from every tier with very little difference in performance.

Not only in races, but gamemodes too. Currently, in the Super class you can have the Torero XO and Banshee 900R for Gate Dash which is a big performance difference, this can be made better with tiers where straight line and cornering performance will generally be closer.

Please let me know your thoughts on this idea by replying to this post :)

This wouldn't work well, the system currently implemented works fine, you can lock the performance class without locking by vehicle type.

Yes, you can lock performance class without locking vehicle class, but the cars will be different pace. If they were the same pace we could have performance classes instead of vehicle classes on the races voting screen, but thank you for the feedback.
